ANITA WILLIAMS DRESSAGE
Working Student Position
Are you interested in a career with dressage horses?
Anita Williams Dressage offers an amazing opportunity for those interested in working with young horses through FEI level dressage horses. As a working student you will work in an FEI Dressage barn in the beautiful mountains of Eagle, Colorado. Here you will work alongside Anita Williams, a nationally recognized dressage trainer and her barn manager, Courtney Grey. Working students help care for the horses, learn the fine art of grooming and other skills appropriate to a top-level dressage barn. Working students have the opportunity to ride and train customized to your level. You will create life time friends and make countless memories. You may also have the opportunity to attend rodeos, go on hikes and ski. Eagle Colorado is known for beautiful scenery, photography, camping and fishing.
In return for your hard work as a working student, you will receive lessons, a luxurious room/apartment, most meals, and a wealth of knowledge. Here is what we ask of our students:
1. Hard work and good ethics, and a great attitude and desire to learn - 8 to 10 hours a day, 5 or 6 days a week of feeding, turnout, grooming, mucking up to 6 stalls a day, cleaning paddocks and sometimes show travel and grooming.
2. We would like that you have riding ability to 3rd level. If you have big goals, lots of desire to work hard and ride well, we will consider you if your riding experience is not that far along.
Hello,
My name is Linda Waard. I am 22 years old, live in the Netherlands and I've been an intern at Anita Williams' stable from septembre 2016 till the beginning of decembre 2016. I've found this opportunity via a Facebook post of Nine Sudowe, another intern from the Netherlands. I am studying business administration and wanted to take a year off to travel and to do internships. I have my own horse, Donovan, a dutch 9-year-old warmblood, with who I am riding third level. I love the United States and horses, so this was a great chance to do what I love.
From the first moment I met Anita, it felt immediately good like we were already family. Anita gave me the opportunity to become a better rider and offered a great place to stay and meet amazing people. I had a lot of fun with the stable manager Courtney during the day and Anita's husband Jeff always made it feel like home, cooking amazing dishes, doing great fourwheeling trips with me and let's not forgot about my new favorite hobby shooting.
I also had the chance to invite Anita at my place in march which was an unforgettable week with a lot of sightseeing and meeting other dutch interns. After that I surprised Anita by coming back for a week in May. I would recommend everyone to go to Anita Williams' stable, because they are so welcoming and you get to chance to learn so much from grand prix rider Anita. I can't wait to plan my next trip and see my American parents again!
Big kiss and hug,
Linda Waard
